Innovalia Metrology, through Trimek, is the leader of an R&D project Zeroehun which is promoted by ACICAE in collaboration with the main Basque players in the automotive industry, such as Maier, Gestamp, CIE Automotive and Sisteplant. Zeroehhun is in line with the challenges faced by the automotive industry for the next few years.

With the help of ACICAE, Innovalia Metrology is developing this strategic project in collaboration with the main automotive players: Gestamp for the sheet metal segment, Maier for plastics, and CIE Automotive for mechanized parts. The aim is to achieve manufacturing with zero defects of all the components produced in the automotive factories.

The Zeroehun project consists of providing the quality control platform for an automotive design where quality data of the product is correlated with quality data of the process, which allows optimization and not to produce any defective parts. This is the segment in which Sisteplant also participates due to its powerful software tools for the operating production process.

Other companies of the Innovalia Group, such as Unimetrik and SQS, are also part of the consortium. The first one takes care that not only machines but the elements of quality control are intelligent also, and the efficiency of the process increases. On the other hand, SQS, specialized in the testing and validation of software, guarantees that this application is incorporated into this platform with the pre-established characteristics, and international data comparison methodologies and standards are aligned.

The project, within the Hazitek Strategic program of the Basque Government, has a global budget of around 4 million euros for the entire consortium, 1.3 million of which corresponds to the action developed by Innovalia.

The Innovalia Group has indicated that Trimek will improve its data quality control platform, and Sisteplant – its control of the process, for example, beginning conservations in search of joint exploitation. In addition, the project will equip AIC’s Smart Factory with new zero defects manufacturing capabilities. Innovalia Metrology, thanks to Trimek, will continue to develop new versions, improving aspects related to the treatment of large amounts of quality data that come from different sources, as quickly as possible and in real time and relating them to the process. The new platform of quality control will be launched in 2020. “The data is the key”, says the president of the Innovalia group, Jesús de la Maza. The aim is to develop data capture and analysis systems that allow avoiding potential defects in an agile manner, in line with zero defects manufacturing. “It is one of the priorities of the industry and of all innovation programs.”

Innovalia Metrology, formed by Trimek, Unimetrik and Datapixel, has significant experience in the sector what allows it to precisely develop the technology. It does not only respond to all the demands of the present but will also respond to the future needs of the industry.

According to Jesús de la Maza, the company “generates its own solutions that allow to reach the market with a differential of individualized added value”. “Technologically we are working in that line, trying to collaborate with the big ones, from our facilities in the AIC”.

In fact, the participation of Innovalia in the 15th International Conference on Industrial Dimensional Metrology confirms its technological development and its clear positioning as a prescriber of advanced solutions in the field of quality control and the improvement of manufacturing processes. At international level Innovalia, which is installing two of its duplex machines for measurement and control of car bodies with optical sensors, in Detroit; and at the facilities of the electric car manufacturer, Karma Automotive, in California; has set Mexico and the United States as target markets. Thus, the current approach the group aims to continue growing by expanding its network of distributors abroad.
